FoldaBottle

Concept Development

Product Design - Prototyping

The project was done in the course "Design studio 1" where the task was to take a toy and its properties and turn it into something useful in everyday life. I took a Star Wars coffee mug that changed color when hot coffee was poured into the cup. The concept development culminated in a baby bottle, with the attribute of changing color in a new way, together with two other features.

It was an individual project where the work and the solution process were independent of others. I chose to focus on early concept generation and prototyping.

Thanks to its silicone-based material, the baby bottle is easily foldable. This means that it takes up less space when stored in-between the usage.

The bottle shows in a intuitive way when the liquid is at the right temperature, by changing the color of the plastic.

FoldaBottle also has built-in heating. When the bottom plate is switched on, chemical heat is generated without any other added energy. To reuse the self-heating, the bottom plate is boiled in water.
